Our Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary second graders have been transformation supervisors over the last few weeks! As part of an exciting end-of-the-school-year STEM project, students immersed themselves into the fascinating life cycle of the butterfly.
But they didn't just read about it in textbooks, they lived it. Each classroom got the incredible opportunity to host their very own caterpillar habitats. Students carefully observed and documented the amazing process of metamorphosis firsthand, watching in awe as their tiny caterpillars transformed into beautiful butterflies.
To cap off this unforgettable science unit and celebrate the final days of the school year, the second-grade classes gathered outside for a special release ceremony. Just as our students are ready to spread their wings and head into summer break, they got to watch their butterflies fly off into the sunny sky. It was the perfect, memorable send-off to a fantastic school year!
